Job Description
As a UPS Professional with a focus on high-demand operations in the USA, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing logistics processes within our dynamic Chicago hub. This position requires a proactive individual who can ensure the timely and accurate handling of packages, streamline operational workflows, and contribute to an efficient supply chain. You will be instrumental in maintaining our high standards of service excellence and directly impacting our mission to deliver what matters. This role involves both hands-on operational tasks and administrative duties, working within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the inbound and outbound flow of packages and freight, ensuring compliance with all company and regulatory standards.
- Operate and oversee various package handling equipment, including scanners, sorting systems, and forklifts (with proper certification).
- Conduct quality control checks to identify and resolve issues related to package integrity, labeling, and routing.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow efficiency and address operational challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, deliveries, and operational metrics.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in training new team members on operational best practices and safety guidelines.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with drivers, internal staff, and occasionally external clients.
Required Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Proficiency in using package scanning and tracking software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs unassisted
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or supply chain management
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and hazardous material handling
- Experience with UPS-specific operational systems
