Job Description

Paradox Interactive is seeking an enthusiastic Entry Level Playtester to join our team in Portland, Oregon. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to start a career in the gaming industry, no prior professional experience required! As a Playtester, you will be instrumental in identifying bugs, glitches, and usability issues, providing valuable feedback that directly impacts the player experience. You will work closely with development teams, playing unreleased games across various platforms and reporting your findings with precision. Key Responsibilities
- Play through various stages of unreleased video games across different platforms (PC, console).
- Thoroughly test game features, mechanics, and content to identify bugs, glitches, and potential design flaws.
- Document and accurately report issues using bug tracking software, including clear steps to reproduce, severity, and screenshots/videos.
- Provide constructive and detailed feedback on gameplay, user experience, balance, and overall enjoyment.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, designers, and other QA team members.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols regarding unreleased game content.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss testing progress and findings.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable passion for video games and familiarity with various genres and platforms.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for clear bug reporting and feedback.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with different gaming hardware.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) is a plus.
- Experience in competitive gaming or extensive hours logged in specific game genres.
- Ability to articulate complex gameplay issues in an understandable manner.
- Knowledge of game development cycles or QA methodologies.
