Job Description
XPO Logistics is seeking dedicated and safety-conscious Local CDL-A Drivers to join our Santa Maria team. This position offers the highly sought-after “Home Daily” schedule, allowing you to maximize your time with family and maintain a consistent routine. We provide a competitive compensation package, including a guaranteed minimum of $1,500 per week, ensuring financial stability. As a local driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of freight within a defined regional area, operating modern equipment and upholding XPO’s commitment to service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers; complete necessary paperwork.
- Transport freight on assigned routes, ensuring on-time delivery and pickup.
- Maneuver vehicles in tight spaces at loading docks and customer locations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
- Complete and submit all required logs, reports, and paperwork accurately and on time.
- Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, or other appropriate methods.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum of 24 months (2 years) verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with freight handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) endorsement.
- Tanker endorsement.
- Experience with various types of freight and equipment.
- Proficiency with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.
