Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Maritime Dock Worker with a focus on Port Logistics to join our team in Provo, UT. While Provo is inland, this role is crucial for managing the flow of goods that originate from or are destined for maritime ports. You will be responsible for the efficient loading, unloading, sorting, and staging of freight on our docks, ensuring accurate handling and timely dispatch. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Your contribution will directly impact the seamless movement of goods through our intermodal network, linking inland operations to global maritime trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight safely and efficiently from trucks, trailers, and railcars using appropriate equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
- Sort, stack, and stage freight according to destination, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing freight for damages and discrepancies, reporting issues promptly.
- Operate various material handling equipment in a safe and skilled manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on the dock.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and truck drivers to optimize workflow.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records as needed.
- Prepare freight for shipment, including wrapping, banding, and securing cargo.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
