Job Description

Join our dynamic Sports Medicine team as an Orthopedic Staff Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient recovery and well-being. This role focuses on providing exceptional nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic procedures related to sports injuries, from pre-operative assessment through post-operative rehabilitation. You will work within a collaborative environment dedicated to cutting-edge sports medicine, utilizing your specialized skills to educate patients, manage pain, and facilitate optimal recovery outcomes. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual passionate about orthopedic nursing and sports medicine, ready to deliver top-tier care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the orthopedic and sports medicine unit.
  • Administer medications, monitor patient vital signs, and manage wound care for post-operative orthopedic patients.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, rehabilitation exercises, and pain management strategies.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide emergency care as needed, demonstrating proficiency in ACLS/BLS protocols.

Required Skills

  • Current California RN license.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing, surgical nursing, or sports medicine.
  • BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Orthopedic Nurse Certified (ONC) or Certified Sports Medicine Nurse (CSMN).
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Epic.
  • Familiarity with sports rehabilitation protocols and patient education.
