Job Description
Join Gray Line Tours as a Tour Bus Operator with a special focus on America’s National Parks! This unique opportunity is for experienced and passionate drivers who are eager to share the awe-inspiring beauty of our national parks with travelers from around the world. You will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on multi-day and single-day tours to various national parks, ensuring a comfortable, informative, and memorable experience. We are seeking individuals with excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a genuine enthusiasm for customer service. For qualified candidates, housing assistance may be available to facilitate relocation or reduce living expenses, allowing you to focus on delivering exceptional tours.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tour bus on scheduled routes, primarily to and from National Parks across various states.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with boarding, disembarking, and luggage handling.
- Maintain a clean and comfortable environment for all passengers throughout the tour.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, answering questions and providing general information about the tour and destinations.
- Manage time effectively to ensure adherence to tour schedules and itineraries.
- Handle unexpected situations with professionalism and calm, prioritizing passenger safety and comfort.
Required Skills
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement
- Clean driving record with no major violations for the past 3 years
- Minimum of 2 years of professional bus driving experience
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle safety procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and carry luggage up to 50 lbs
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended tours
- Passion for travel and an appreciation for natural landscapes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving large vehicles (motorcoaches, transit buses)
- Knowledge of common National Parks routes and attractions
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Customer service experience in the tourism or hospitality industry
- Ability to provide basic commentary or information about tour sites
