Job Description
Are you passionate about holistic wellness and eager to learn an ancient healing art? Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa in Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Shiatsu Trainee to join our professional studio. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to immerse themselves in the world of Shiatsu, a traditional Japanese bodywork therapy. You will receive comprehensive training under experienced practitioners, learning both theoretical knowledge and practical application, with the goal of becoming a certified Shiatsu practitioner. This role is perfect for someone looking to start a rewarding career in Eastern Arts and contribute to the well-being of our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all Shiatsu training modules and workshops, demonstrating a strong commitment to learning.
- Observe and assist certified Shiatsu practitioners during client sessions, learning techniques and client interaction.
- Practice Shiatsu techniques on fellow trainees and volunteers, developing proficiency and confidence.
- Maintain a clean and organized treatment room and studio environment.
- Study relevant anatomy, physiology, and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as they apply to Shiatsu.
- Adhere to all spa policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Engage with clients in a professional and empathetic manner, preparing for future client interactions.
- Complete all required coursework and practical assessments to achieve Shiatsu certification.

- Genuine interest and passion for Eastern healing arts, particularly Shiatsu.
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to or personal interest in yoga, meditation, martial arts, or other holistic practices.
- Customer service experience in any field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
