Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Shift Care Assistant to join our team in Fort Wayne. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a calm, quiet environment and are committed to providing exceptional care during overnight hours. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents, working independently and as part of a supportive team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while maintaining their dignity and privacy.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and repositioning to prevent discomfort and ensure safety.
- Monitor residents' health status, vital signs, and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
- Document care provided, observations, and resident activities accurately and in a timely manner.
- Respond to call lights and resident requests with professionalism and efficiency.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized living environment for residents.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks as needed during the night shift.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a sense of peace and security.
- Administer prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, if qualified and delegated.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Care Assistant, CNA, or similar role (minimum 6 months).
- Ability to work independently and maintain vigilance during night shifts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents safely.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience working in a quiet or specialized care environment.
- Knowledge of resident care plans and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
