Job Description
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and energetic Sort Associate to join our FedEx Ground team in Silver Spring, MD. This entry-level position is crucial to our daily operations, involving the manual sorting, scanning, and loading/unloading of packages within our fast-paced distribution center. Key Responsibilities
- Manually load and unload packages from company vehicles and containers.
- Scan packages using handheld devices to ensure accurate tracking.
- Sort packages based on destination, weight, and size into appropriate staging areas.
- Move packages to designated areas within the warehouse using manual or powered equipment.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a secure working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly, and up to 75 lbs (34 kg) occasionally.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and climb for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliability and strong attendance record.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar physical role.
- Experience operating manual pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
