Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Music Rights & Licensing Clerk with a strong legal focus to join our team in Arlington, VA. This role is crucial for the efficient management and processing of music rights data and licensing requests within our extensive catalog. The successful candidate will support our legal and licensing departments by ensuring accuracy, maintaining meticulous records, and facilitating the smooth operation of our rights administration processes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the research, verification, and entry of music publishing rights data into internal databases.
- Process incoming licensing requests, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are complete and accurate.
- Support the legal team by organizing and maintaining legal files, contracts, and other sensitive documents.
- Prepare standard licensing agreements and other legal correspondence under supervision.
- Conduct initial reviews of copyright registrations and royalty statements for discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., A&R, finance) and external partners regarding rights and licensing inquiries.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all proprietary information and sensitive data.
- Perform general administrative duties such as scheduling, data entry, and report generation as needed.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated interest in copyright law, intellectual property, or the music industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Music Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience (1+ year) in an administrative, legal assistant, or data entry role, preferably in a media, entertainment, or legal setting.
- Familiarity with music publishing, copyright, or licensing terminology.
- Experience with database management systems or CRM software.
