Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty lab team. This role is crucial in preparing customized medications, ensuring precision and accuracy in every compound. The ideal candidate will have experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding, a strong understanding of pharmaceutical calculations, and a dedication to maintaining a clean and compliant laboratory environment. This is an on-site position requiring a commitment to weekly pay, offering a dynamic and rewarding work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications accurately according to prescription orders and established formulas.
- Perform precise pharmaceutical calculations and measurements to ensure correct ingredient ratios.
- Maintain and organize the compounding lab, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 guidelines.
- Operate and maintain specialized compounding equipment, including balances, mixers, and capsule machines.
- Conduct quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
- Manage inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies, including ordering and proper storage.
- Assist pharmacists in all aspects of compounding and medication preparation.
- Document all compounding activities meticulously and accurately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in sterile and non-sterile compounding techniques.
- Strong mathematical skills for pharmaceutical calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow strict protocols and guidelines.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and USP compounding standards (795, 797, 800).
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping and inventory management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Previous experience (2+ years) specifically in a compounding pharmacy setting.
- Experience with pharmacy management software specific to compounding.
- Aseptic technique certification.
