Job Description
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is seeking enthusiastic and talented Substitute Music Teachers to provide engaging instruction and maintain a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular music teacher. This role offers flexible scheduling options, allowing you to choose assignments that fit your availability. We are looking for individuals who can step in immediately to inspire students across various grade levels with the joy of music.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging music lessons to students following established curriculum and lesson plans.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Supervise students in the classroom and during school-related activities.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
- Collaborate with school staff as needed to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively according to school policies.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under supervision.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one musical instrument or vocal performance.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different teaching environments.
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for music education.
- Eligible for or hold a valid North Carolina teaching license or substitute teaching permit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with various musical genres and teaching methodologies.
- Experience with elementary or secondary school music programs.
