Job Description
Are you a strong, reliable, and customer-focused individual looking for an active role with a reputable company? Leon’s Furniture in St. Thomas, ON, is seeking a dedicated Furniture Delivery Porter (Mate) to join our dynamic delivery team. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our customers receive their new furniture safely and efficiently, providing the final touch to their shopping experience. This physically demanding position requires heavy lifting and a commitment to excellent service, with the added benefit of potential great tips for outstanding performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the primary delivery driver with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of furniture and appliances.
- Carefully transport items into customers' homes, navigating various entryways and stairwells.
- Assemble furniture as required at the delivery site.
- Inspect items for damage before and after delivery, reporting any discrepancies.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and addressing concerns professionally.
- Ensure delivery vehicle is kept clean and organized.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 75 lbs regularly, occasionally more with assistance).
- Excellent physical stamina and strength.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
- Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in furniture delivery, moving, or a similar physically demanding role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record (if applicable to assist with driving duties in the future).
- Familiarity with St. Thomas and surrounding areas.
