Job Description

As a Retail Merchandiser Trainee at Tesco, you’ll embark on an exciting journey, travelling to various stores across your designated region to ensure our products are perfectly presented and readily available for our customers. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining Tesco’s high standards of merchandising, contributing directly to sales and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel regularly to assigned Tesco stores within the Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding Staffordshire area.
- Implement merchandising plans and planograms accurately to ensure products are displayed correctly and attractively.
- Monitor stock levels on shelves and in storage, ensuring products are replenished promptly.
- Check for product availability, freshness, and correct pricing, reporting any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with in-store teams to optimize product placement and promotional displays.
- Provide feedback on merchandising effectiveness and store specific challenges.
- Maintain a clean and organised merchandising area in each store.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks and reporting as required.
Required Skills
- A full, clean UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the designated region.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or retail environment (even part-time).
- Familiarity with merchandising principles or visual display.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Basic IT proficiency, including use of tablets or smartphones for reporting.
