Job Description
The Pasco County Public Works department is excited to announce an opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated 18-year-old teens to join our team as Public Works Labourers. This long-term, entry-level position is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in various aspects of public infrastructure maintenance and development. You will work under direct supervision, assisting experienced staff with a range of tasks essential to keeping our county functioning smoothly. This role is perfect for individuals looking to gain practical skills, contribute to their community, and build a foundation for a career in public service or trades. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Participate in groundskeeping activities, including mowing, trimming, and litter removal in parks and public areas.
- Help with the setup and teardown of equipment and materials for various projects.
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools under supervision.
- Support traffic control efforts at work sites, ensuring public and worker safety.
- Load and unload materials from vehicles.
- Perform general cleanup duties at work sites.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete tasks efficiently.
Required Skills
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Previous experience in outdoor labor, landscaping, or construction is a plus, but not required.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in public works.
