Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) to join our dynamic mental health team in Blainville. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced nurse to make a significant impact on individuals’ lives within a community setting. As a CPN, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care, support, and education to clients experiencing various psychiatric conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to person-centered care. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and risk assessments, for individuals in the community.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and support to individuals experiencing acute mental health episodes.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor for side effects, and provide medication education to clients and their caregivers.
- Offer psychoeducation on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and wellness promotion.
- Facilitate referrals to internal and external resources, ensuring continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely client records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
- Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the healthcare system and community.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (or eligibility for licensure in Quebec)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing, preferably in a community setting.
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive mental health assessments and formulate care plans.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong understanding of psychopharmacology and medication management.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for community visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a focus on psychiatric/mental health nursing.
- Certification in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (e.g., CNA certification).
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset in Quebec.
- Experience with diverse client populations and cultural competence.
- Knowledge of local community resources and mental health services in the Laurentides region.
