Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Endoscopy Unit Porter to join our specialized clinic in Loughborough. This vital role supports the smooth operation of our endoscopy unit by ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients, specimens, equipment, and medical records. Working Monday-Friday, you will play a crucial part in the patient journey, contributing to a calm and efficient environment for both patients and clinical staff. This position requires someone with excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to patient care and upholding the highest standards of safety and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to and from the endoscopy unit, ensuring their comfort and dignity at all times.
- Assist clinical staff with moving and setting up specialized endoscopy equipment, following strict protocols.
- Deliver and collect specimens, medical records, and supplies throughout the clinic, maintaining confidentiality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment and designated storage areas.
- Respond promptly and courteously to requests from nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including manual handling and infection control policies.
- Provide empathetic support and clear communication to patients and their families, addressing any concerns.
- Ensure all transport activities are logged and recorded accurately as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively and calmly in a fast-paced and demanding clinical environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.
- Excellent physical stamina and the ability to lift, push, and maneuver equipment safely.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, infection control, and patient confidentiality principles.

- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or hospital setting, particularly in a portering or support role.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of safe patient moving and handling techniques and equipment.
- An understanding of the endoscopy department's operations.
