Job Description

NJPAC is seeking an inspiring and visionary Creative Arts Director to lead our artistic programming and educational initiatives within our dynamic non-profit environment. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping the artistic vision, curating compelling performances, and overseeing arts education programs that engage and enrich our diverse audiences and community. The Creative Arts Director will be a strategic thinker, a passionate advocate for the arts, and an exceptional leader capable of managing creative teams and complex projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the artistic vision and programming strategy for NJPAC, aligning with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
  • Curate a diverse and high-quality season of performances, including music, dance, theater, and multidisciplinary arts, appealing to broad audiences.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of NJPAC's extensive arts education programs, ensuring their relevance and impact.
  • Manage and mentor a team of creative professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with artists, agents, cultural organizations, and community partners.
  • Oversee budget management for artistic and educational departments, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Act as a primary spokesperson for NJPAC's artistic and educational programs, representing the organization at local, national, and international forums.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing teams to support fundraising efforts and promote artistic programs.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership experience in a senior artistic or programming role within a performing arts center or non-profit arts organization.
  • Demonstrated success in curating and producing high-quality artistic programs across various disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of arts education principles and experience in developing impactful educational initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strategic planning and project management expertise.
  • Ability to manage complex budgets and financial resources.
  • Deep knowledge of the performing arts landscape and current trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Arts Administration, Fine Arts, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a large-scale non-profit performing arts institution.
  • Track record of successful grant writing and fundraising support.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish) due to the diverse community served.
