Job Description
Join XPO Logistics through our Veteran Trucker Program, a fast-track initiative designed for military veterans transitioning to a rewarding career in commercial trucking. As a professional truck driver with XPO, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods, representing our commitment to excellence on every route.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Safely load and unload cargo, securing freight to prevent damage during transit.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and submit all required documentation (delivery receipts, manifest, etc.) in a timely fashion.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Adhere to scheduled routes and delivery times, prioritizing customer satisfaction.
- Comply with all traffic laws and maintain a clean driving record.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A)
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and securing cargo
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior military service with a distinguished record
- Experience with various types of freight and equipment (e.g., flatbed, dry van, refrigerated)
- Hazmat and/or Tanker endorsements
- TWIC card or ability to obtain one
- Basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor roadside adjustments
