Job Description

Join our dedicated team at Pasco County Schools as a Part-time Special Needs Helper. This vital role focuses on providing compassionate and effective support to students with special needs during weekend term time. You will work closely with students, families, and school staff to create a supportive and engaging environment, helping students achieve their personal and educational goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist students with daily living activities, personal care, and mobility as needed.
  • Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior support plans under the guidance of lead staff.
  • Provide supervision and support during recreational activities, field trips, and community outings.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for students.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel regarding student progress and needs.
  • Encourage student independence, social interaction, and participation in school activities.
  • Document observations and maintain accurate records as required.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to work with individuals with special needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and assist students as required (physical demands).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or individuals with special needs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Training in behavior management techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of developmental stages and common special needs conditions.
