Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Pharmacy Technician with a strong focus on home care to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. In this critical role, you will play a vital part in ensuring patients receive the necessary medical equipment and supplies for their home care needs. You will be responsible for processing orders, managing inventory, coordinating deliveries, and providing exceptional support to both patients and healthcare professionals. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and company policies related to DME.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify DME orders from healthcare providers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist patients and caregivers with inquiries regarding DME products, usage, and insurance coverage.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of DME, including ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies.
  • Prepare, package, and coordinate the delivery or pickup of DME to patients' homes or designated locations.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and instruction for patients on the proper use and maintenance of DME.
  • Ensure all DME services comply with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care plans.
  • Handle patient documentation, insurance verification, and billing processes related to DME.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance checks on medical equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or equivalent state licensure
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting
  • Basic knowledge of durable medical equipment (DME) and medical terminology
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Ability to lift and move medical equipment up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or higher in a related field
  • Previous experience specifically with DME coordination or home care services
  • Experience with insurance verification and billing procedures for medical equipment
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
