Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Texture & Material Tagger to join our dynamic 3D design team in Calgary. In this role, you will play a crucial part in organizing, categorizing, and maintaining our extensive library of 3D textures and materials. Your meticulous work will ensure that our 3D artists, designers, and visualization specialists have immediate access to high-quality, accurately tagged assets, enhancing efficiency and consistency across all our projects. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for visual detail, a foundational understanding of 3D design principles, and a passion for creating organized digital asset libraries.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately tag and categorize a wide range of 3D textures and materials based on established guidelines and industry standards.
- Maintain and update the company's 3D asset management system, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Perform quality control checks on existing texture and material tags for consistency and correctness.
- Collaborate with 3D artists and designers to understand specific project needs and asset requirements.
- Assist in developing and refining tagging conventions and best practices for 3D assets.
- Document asset metadata, including source, usage rights, and technical specifications.
- Identify and report any issues or discrepancies within the texture and material library.
- Support the team in managing and integrating new 3D assets into the library.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of 3D textures, materials, and PBR workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using asset management systems or databases.
- Familiarity with at least one major 3D software (e.g., Blender, 3ds Max, Maya, SketchUp).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Basic knowledge of common material properties (e.g., albedo, roughness, normal maps).
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in 3D Design, Game Art, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Experience with specific asset libraries or content creation pipelines.
- Exposure to rendering engines like Unreal Engine, Unity, V-Ray, or Corona Renderer.
- Prior experience in a similar data entry or asset management role.
- Understanding of architectural or engineering visualization needs.
