Job Description
As a Claims Adjusting Intern, you will gain exposure to various aspects of the claims process. You will assist our claims adjusters in managing files, communicating with policyholders, gathering information, and ensuring a smooth and efficient claims experience. This role is designed to provide comprehensive training and practical skills development in a supportive environment within our Marystown office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior claims adjusters with administrative tasks and file organization.
- Support the gathering of necessary documentation and information for claims processing.
- Communicate with policyholders, providing updates and answering basic inquiries under supervision.
- Learn to interpret insurance policies and apply coverage terms.
- Participate in claims investigations and assessments as directed.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records in the claims management system.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and effective claims resolution.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program (e.g., Business, Legal Studies, Finance, or related field).
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred, as some site visits may be required with a supervisor).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous customer service or office administration experience.
- Basic understanding of the insurance industry or financial services.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
