Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Freelance Medical Transcriptionist to join our team for a specialized side gig. This is a 100% remote, contract position perfect for experienced professionals looking to supplement their income with flexible hours. You will be responsible for accurately transcribing medical dictations from various healthcare professionals across a wide range of specialties. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional listening skills, a strong understanding of medical terminology, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality. This role supports our mission to provide the best care through meticulous record-keeping, allowing our medical staff to focus on patient treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, summaries, and other patient records accurately and efficiently.
- Review and edit transcribed documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and consistency.
- Ensure strict adherence to medical, legal, and ethical guidelines regarding patient confidentiality.
- Identify and clarify any discrepancies or inconsistencies in dictated reports.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy and speed to meet turnaround time requirements.
- Utilize medical reference materials and transcription software effectively.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams regarding transcription issues or clarifications.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Exceptional listening skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with medical transcription software and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or certificate in Medical Transcription or a related field.
- AHDI (Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity) certification (e.g., CMT or RHDS).
- Experience transcribing for multiple medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, orthopedics, oncology).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with voice recognition editing.
