Job Description
Join Keywords Studios as a Localization Tester and become an essential part of our team dedicated to bringing global gaming experiences to life. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the linguistic quality and cultural appropriateness of video game content across multiple platforms. You will meticulously review in-game text, audio, and other localized assets to identify and report linguistic errors, cultural inaccuracies, and functional bugs. This is an exciting opportunity for passionate gamers with a keen eye for detail and fluency in Spanish, Japanese, or French, who are eager to contribute to the success of world-renowned game titles.
Key Responsibilities
- Test localized versions of games to identify linguistic, cultural, and cosmetic errors (e.g., grammar, spelling, mistranslations, truncated text, incorrect formatting).
- Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of localized audio, subtitles, and user interface elements.
- Report bugs clearly and concisely in a bug tracking database, providing steps to reproduce, screenshots, and relevant linguistic details.
- Follow test plans and execute assigned test cases diligently.
- Collaborate with project managers and localization teams to ensure high-quality localized products.
- Provide constructive feedback on localization quality and processes.
- Stay updated with game industry trends and localization best practices.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native fluency in English AND at least one of the following languages: Spanish (Latin American or European), Japanese, or French (Canadian or European).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in all required languages.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle linguistic nuances.
- Solid understanding of video games and various gaming platforms.
- Familiarity with bug reporting tools and processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in localization, quality assurance, or translation.
- Knowledge of multiple localization industry tools (e.g., CAT tools, TMS).
- Experience with different game genres and target audiences.
- Strong cultural awareness of relevant target markets.
- Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Communications, or a related field.
