Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Flight Nurse (RN) with an Emergency Focus to join our critical care aeromedical transport team. This role involves providing advanced life support and critical care nursing interventions to critically ill and injured patients during inter-facility and scene flight transfers. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform effectively under high-pressure situations. You will be an integral part of a specialized team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care in challenging and dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced critical care and emergency nursing interventions during aeromedical transport.
- Assess, stabilize, and monitor critically ill and injured patients throughout the transport continuum.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment in an aircraft environment.
- Collaborate effectively with pilots, paramedics, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications, perform invasive procedures, and manage life support systems as per protocols.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and documentation.
- Participate in ongoing training, simulations, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure patient and crew safety by adhering to all flight and medical safety protocols.
- Educate and support patient families during the transport process.
Required Skills
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 4 years of recent critical care (ICU/ED) experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a confined and dynamic environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- CFRN (Certified Flight Registered Nurse) or CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) Instructor status
- Experience in aeromedical transport or pre-hospital care
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
- Paramedic certification
