Job Description

Are you passionate about mechanics and eager to start a career in the dynamic oil and gas industry? Chevron is seeking a highly motivated Pumpjack Mechanic Trainee with a strong mechanical interest to join our team in Greeley, CO. This entry-level position is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, offering comprehensive on-the-job training to develop the skills necessary to become a proficient pumpjack mechanic. You will work alongside experienced technicians, learning to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various pumpjack components and related oilfield equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our production sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior mechanics in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of pumpjacks, motors, gearboxes, and other associated production equipment.
  • Learn to diagnose mechanical issues and contribute to effective solutions under direct supervision.
  • Participate in routine preventative maintenance schedules and conduct basic equipment checks.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and time spent on tasks.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Support field operations by ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
  • Engage actively in all training programs and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the shop and at well sites.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in how machinery works.
  • Willingness to learn and a proactive attitude towards acquiring new skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of tools and their safe operation.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest safety standards.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions (lifting, bending, standing).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a hands-on mechanical role or vocational training in mechanics is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with the oil and gas industry is beneficial but not mandatory.
