Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate State/Provincial Foster Care Assistant to join our dedicated team. This office-based role is essential in supporting the Foster Care team with administrative tasks, data management, and direct support to foster carers and children. You will be a key point of contact, helping to ensure smooth operations and contributing to the welfare of children in foster care. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in social services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Foster Care team, including managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, assessments, and other documentation related to foster care placements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic and paper files in accordance with data protection regulations.
  • Act as a first point of contact for foster carers, signposting them to relevant resources and support.
  • Coordinate and track training sessions and support groups for foster carers.
  • Assist with the organisation of events and activities for foster children and carers.
  • Undertake basic research and gather information as required by the team.
  • Process invoices and expenses for foster carers and associated services.
  • Support the recruitment and assessment process for new foster carers.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous administrative experience, ideally within a social care or public sector setting.
  • Knowledge of the foster care system or children's social care.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Business Administration or a related field.
