Job Description

Hamilton County Schools is seeking enthusiastic Substitute Music Teachers to join our team, starting immediately. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging music lessons to students from diverse backgrounds and grade levels, following established curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, and during extracurricular activities.
  • Communicate effectively with school administration, faculty, and support staff regarding student progress and classroom matters.
  • Adapt to different school settings, student needs, and lesson plans on short notice.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students under your supervision.
  • Manage classroom materials and equipment responsibly.
  • Adhere to all Hamilton County Schools policies and procedures.
  • Provide feedback to regular teachers on student engagement and progress upon their return.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in a variety of musical instruments or vocal techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret musical scores.
  • Strong classroom management skills.

  • Basic computer literacy for attendance and communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (or currently pursuing).

  • Tennessee teaching license or substitute teacher certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with diverse music genres and teaching methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Hamilton County Schools music curriculum.
