Job Description

Are you passionate about video games and eager to kickstart your career in game development, specifically within Quality Assurance and scripting? Activision Blizzard is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Scripting Assistant (QA) to join our remote team. This is an incredible opportunity for an individual with little to no prior professional experience to learn the intricacies of game development, quality assurance methodologies, and scripting languages from industry experts. You will support our QA efforts by assisting in testing game features, identifying bugs, and helping to write and maintain test scripts. This role is designed for growth, providing comprehensive training and mentorship to develop your skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the QA team in executing test plans for various game features and systems.
  • Document and track bugs, issues, and anomalies with clear, concise, and reproducible steps.
  • Learn to write, maintain, and execute simple test scripts using relevant scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua).
  • Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to understand game design and functionality.
  • Provide detailed feedback on user experience, game mechanics, and overall quality.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving testing processes.
  • Engage in ongoing learning and development activities related to game development and QA best practices.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for video games and a basic understanding of game mechanics.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English communication.
  • Basic familiarity with programming or scripting concepts (e.g., if-statements, loops, variables).
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow in the game industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed or ongoing coursework in Computer Science, Game Design, or a related field.
  • Experience with personal coding projects or game modifications.
  • Familiarity with any scripting language (e.g., Python, Lua, JavaScript).
  • Understanding of basic QA principles or testing methodologies.
  • Experience reporting bugs in personal projects or beta tests.
