Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Google Network Support Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on both field and remote support for our critical network infrastructure. In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Google-centric network environments. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex network issues, implementing new network configurations, and providing expert technical assistance to internal teams and key clients. This role requires a proactive approach to network management, a deep understanding of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking, and the ability to travel for on-site support as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for network incidents and service requests related to Google Cloud Platform and other network infrastructure components.
  • Perform hands-on configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of network hardware and software in both data center and remote client environments.
  • Respond to and resolve network-related alerts and escalations efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime and business impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cloud architects, security engineers, and application developers, to support network integration and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network issues.
  • Implement network security best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct network performance monitoring and analysis to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of new Google Cloud network services and solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) networking services (VPC, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, Load Balancing, CDN, Cloud DNS, Firewall Rules).
  • In-depth understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VPN, MPLS, DNS, DHCP).
  • Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Arista.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and scripting (Python, Bash).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel for field support as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Professional Network Engineer certification or equivalent.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP).
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration tools.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF).
  • Prior experience in a telecommunications or large enterprise environment.
