Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically strong individual to join our team as a Heavy Item Shifter in Old Strathcona, Edmonton. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient relocation of our clients’ belongings. If you’re reliable, have excellent stamina, and are ready to contribute to a supportive team, we want to hear from you. Immediate start available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload heavy and bulky items, including furniture, appliances, and boxes, into and out of moving trucks.
- Carefully pack and wrap items to prevent damage during transit.
- Disassemble and reassemble furniture as required.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to complete moves on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with clients, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines for lifting, carrying, and securing items.
- Assist with truck setup, equipment maintenance, and other tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated physical strength and stamina to lift and move heavy items repeatedly throughout the day (up to 75 lbs regularly).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in moving, warehousing, construction, or a similar physically demanding role.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (asset, but not required).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
