Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audio Systems Designer with a strong focus on AV integration to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for designing complex audio solutions that integrate seamlessly into larger AV systems for a diverse range of clients, including corporate, education, and entertainment sectors. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in audio principles, digital signal processing (DSP), network audio, and control systems, along with a proven track record in AV system design and documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Design comprehensive audio systems for various AV integration projects, including sound reinforcement, distributed audio, conferencing, and live event solutions.
- Develop detailed audio schematics, block diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment lists using industry-standard CAD and design software.
- Perform acoustic modeling and analysis to ensure optimal audio performance in diverse environments.
- Select and specify appropriate audio equipment, including microphones, loudspeakers, amplifiers, DSPs, mixers, and audio over IP (AoIP) devices.
- Collaborate closely with clients, sales teams, project managers, and installation technicians to define project requirements and ensure successful execution.
- Generate accurate bills of materials (BOMs) and assist with project budgeting and cost estimation.
- Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptualization to commissioning.
- Stay current with emerging audio technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Conduct site surveys and provide technical input for proposals and client presentations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in audio system design within the AV integration industry.
- Expertise in acoustic principles, sound reinforcement, and digital signal processing (DSP) platforms (e.g., Biamp, QSC, Extron).
- Proficiency with audio over IP (AoIP) technologies (e.g., Dante, AES67, AVB).
- Strong understanding of AV control systems and their integration with audio systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, electrical schematics, and mechanical layouts.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and audio design/modeling software (e.g., EASE, Soundvision).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) certification.
- Manufacturer certifications for leading audio and AV control systems (e.g., Biamp Tesira, Q-SYS Level 3, Dante Level 3, Crestron DMC-D).
- Experience with commissioning and tuning of complex audio systems.
- Knowledge of IT networking principles as they apply to AV systems.
