Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automotive Design Engineer to join our innovative team in Burnside, Nova Scotia. This role is crucial for the design and development of cutting-edge automotive components and systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and analyzing various parts and assemblies, ensuring they meet strict performance, quality, and manufacturing standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine automotive component and system designs using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Conduct detailed design analysis, including stress, thermal, and kinematic simulations, to ensure product performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure design manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation in accordance with industry standards.
- Participate in design reviews, providing expert insight and incorporating feedback into design iterations.
- Support prototyping and testing activities, analyzing results and implementing design modifications as necessary.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and design methodologies within the automotive industry.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, etc.).
- Strong understanding of automotive design principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with CAE tools for FEA, CFD, or multi-body dynamics.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, FMVSS).
- Previous experience in a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies.
