Job Description
Are you ready to launch a rewarding career in logistics management? FedEx Ground is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual for our Sort Manager Trainee – Career Kickstart program. This entry-level position is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in all aspects of our ground operations, preparing you for a leadership role within our dynamic team. You will learn the intricacies of package sorting, transportation, safety protocols, and team supervision directly from experienced managers, laying a solid foundation for your future at FedEx Ground.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a structured training program, learning all facets of package sorting, loading, and unloading operations.
- Shadow and assist experienced Sort Managers in supervising daily operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
- Learn and enforce safety regulations and procedures to maintain a secure working environment.
- Understand and contribute to achieving operational goals, including productivity, quality, and service metrics.
- Develop leadership skills through coaching, motivating, and directing sorting team members.
- Assist with scheduling, performance monitoring, and administrative tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize workflow and resolve operational challenges.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training sessions.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and a strong desire to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physical environment, including standing, walking, lifting, and bending for extended periods.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by operational demands.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college coursework or a Bachelor's degree (any field).
- Previous experience in a team-based or leadership role (e.g., team lead, supervisor, military experience).
- Familiarity with logistics, warehousing, or package handling operations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
