Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Art & Design Teacher to inspire creativity and foster artistic expression among our students across various age groups, from elementary to high school. This full-time, on-site position requires a dedicated educator who can develop and deliver engaging lessons in a range of artistic disciplines, preparing students for both academic success and a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Art & Design curriculum for students from elementary to high school, aligning with school standards and best practices.
- Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and technical skill development across various art forms.
- Assess student progress effectively, providing constructive feedback and maintaining accurate records of achievement.
- Organize and oversee student art exhibitions, contribute to school plays, and participate in other creative events that showcase student talent.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating art studio environment that fosters learning and exploration.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives to enrich the educational experience.
- Stay current with best practices in art education and integrate new technologies, methodologies, and artistic trends into the curriculum.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students, fostering their unique artistic talents and helping them achieve their full potential.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a closely related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification/certificate relevant to Art & Design education.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience teaching Art & Design at various educational levels (elementary to high school).
- Proficiency in a diverse range of artistic mediums and techniques, including but not limited to drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and digital art.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create an inclusive, supportive, and productive learning environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Eligibility for a Skilled Worker Visa in Jamaica, with the school providing full sponsorship and support.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Art Education or a related advanced field.
- Experience with international curricula such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Advanced Placement (AP) programs.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Proven experience in organizing successful student art shows, community art projects, or gallery collaborations.
- A professional portfolio demonstrating personal artistic achievements and a passion for the arts.
