Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Packaging Engineering Intern to join our dynamic FMCG brand team in Merton, London. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of consumer goods packaging. You will contribute to projects focused on innovation, sustainability, and efficiency, working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of new packaging concepts for various FMCG products.
  • Support the optimization of existing packaging for cost efficiency, material reduction, and improved performance.
  • Conduct research on new packaging materials and technologies, with a focus on sustainable solutions.
  • Participate in laboratory and pilot plant trials to validate packaging designs and materials.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Procurement teams on packaging projects.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis related to packaging quality and production issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements for packaging materials.

Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and material science.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainable packaging and the FMCG industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or project experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of packaging testing methods and equipment.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes related to packaging.
  • Passion for consumer products and brand development.
