Job Description
Are you passionate about precision and eager to start a rewarding career in optical healthcare? Specsavers in Glasgow City Centre is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Optical Lab Technician to join our dynamic team. This entry-level position offers comprehensive training in all aspects of optical lens manufacturing and fitting, making it ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. You will work closely with experienced technicians, assisting in the production of high-quality eyewear that meets our rigorous standards and improves our customers’ vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians in the preparation and cutting of optical lenses according to prescription specifications.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including lensometers, edgers, and tinting machines.
- Mount lenses into frames, ensuring precise alignment and fit.
- Perform quality control checks on finished eyewear to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Manage and organise laboratory inventory, including lenses, frames, and tools.
- Maintain a clean and organised lab environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Learn and apply new techniques and technologies in optical manufacturing as required.
- Collaborate effectively with the wider store team to ensure smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and Science.
