Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and culturally sensitive Museum Gallery Auditor to join our team in Arlington, Virginia. This unique role requires an individual who thrives in a quiet, contemplative environment, focusing on the integrity and presentation of our cultural exhibits. The Gallery Auditor will be responsible for conducting discreet, regular inspections of our museum spaces, ensuring the highest standards of artifact safety, exhibit accuracy, and visitor experience are maintained without disruption to the gallery ambiance. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, discreet audits of gallery spaces to ensure exhibit integrity, safety, and proper environmental conditions.
- Verify the presence and condition of displayed artifacts and artwork against established inventory records.
- Observe visitor flow and adherence to museum guidelines, identifying potential issues without disturbing the quiet environment.
- Identify and report any maintenance needs, security concerns, or discrepancies in exhibit presentation.
- Document all observations meticulously and prepare detailed audit reports for relevant departments.
- Collaborate with curatorial, conservation, security, and facilities teams to ensure compliance with institutional standards and best practices.
- Provide respectful and helpful assistance to visitors when approached, maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Stay informed about current museum practices, conservation standards, and security protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in museum operations, gallery management, security, or auditing roles within a cultural institution.
- Familiarity with collection management systems and inventory verification processes.
- Knowledge of conservation best practices and environmental controls for museum collections.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
