Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Infusion Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team at a private clinic in Wesley Chapel, FL. This role offers flexible day shifts, allowing for a better work-life balance while providing specialized care to patients requiring infusion therapy. The Infusion Nurse will be responsible for administering a variety of intravenous medications, providing patient education, and monitoring patient responses in a comfortable outpatient setting. Key Responsibilities
- Administer intravenous medications, including but not limited to antibiotics, biologics, chemotherapy, and other specialty infusions, following physician orders and clinic protocols.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical assessments, and review of medical history, prior to, during, and after infusion treatments.
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access; manage central venous access devices (CVADs) such as PICCs, ports, and tunneled catheters.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions, complications, and effectiveness of therapy, responding appropriately to emergent situations.
- Educate patients and their families on infusion procedures, medication side effects, self-care at home, and signs/symptoms to report.
- Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records (EMR) documenting all aspects of patient care, medication administration, and communication.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care.
- Ensure adherence to infection control policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with infusion therapy best practices and advancements.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, with at least 1 year in infusion therapy, critical care, or a related specialty setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in initiating and maintaining IV access, including venipuncture and CVAD management.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI®) certification or other relevant specialty certifications (e.g., OCN).
- Experience with Epic EMR system.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
