Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Inventory Shuttle Driver to join our fulfillment center team in Durham, NC. This role involves short-haul transportation of inventory and materials between our local warehouse facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring timely and secure movement of goods, maintaining vehicle logs, and adhering to all safety regulations. This is a critical role that supports the smooth operation of our supply chain and helps us deliver on our promise to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles (e.g., vans, box trucks) safely and efficiently for short-haul transfers between local Amazon facilities.
- Load and unload inventory and materials, ensuring proper securing of goods to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle logs, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery manifests.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and dispatch regarding pickup and delivery schedules.
- Assist with basic warehouse tasks such as sorting, organizing, or preparing items for transport when not driving.
- Ensure timely delivery of inventory to support operational flow and prevent delays.
Required Skills
- Valid state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic communication skills to interact with colleagues and follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ years) in a driving, delivery, or logistics role.
- Experience operating various types of vehicles (e.g., box trucks, cargo vans).
- Familiarity with local Durham, NC area roads and logistics hubs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
