Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chemical Process Engineer (Chemist) to join our dynamic team with a strong focus on plant operations. This on-site role is critical for optimizing existing chemical processes, troubleshooting operational issues, and contributing to the design and implementation of new process improvements within our manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in chemical engineering principles and practical chemistry to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality. This position offers a direct impact on our production capabilities and provides excellent opportunities for professional growth within a leading global agricultural company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize existing chemical processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues in the plant, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement process improvements, including modifications to equipment and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless plant operations and project execution.
  • Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA) and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • Design and execute pilot plant and full-scale plant trials, analyze data, and report findings.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in capital project planning and execution, providing chemical engineering expertise.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to plant operators and other personnel.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • 3+ years of experience in a chemical processing or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including mass and energy balances, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and reaction kinetics.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, plant-focused environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing.
  • Experience with phosphate or potash processing, or related fertilizer production.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and plant automation.
  • Project management experience.
