Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and security-conscious Military Base Civilian Packer to join our team in Stamford, CT. This crucial role involves preparing various materials, equipment, and supplies for shipment, storage, or distribution within a secure federal contract environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all items are packed according to strict military and federal guidelines, maintaining inventory accuracy, and upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work effectively in a structured, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute precise packing, crating, and packaging of a diverse range of items, including sensitive equipment and supplies, adhering strictly to military specifications and federal contract requirements.
- Inspect items for damage or discrepancies prior to packing and report any issues promptly to supervisors.
- Accurately label and mark packages with necessary identification, destination, and handling information.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of all packed and shipped goods, utilizing relevant inventory management systems.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trucks safely and efficiently.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the packing area and warehouse facilities.
- Comply with all safety protocols, federal regulations, and company policies, particularly those related to secure environments.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize packing processes and meet tight deadlines.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to strict procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and security-focused environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearances for military base access.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a packing, warehousing, or logistics role, especially within a federal or military context.
- Familiarity with military packing standards (e.g., MIL-STD-2073) is a plus.
- Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks (certification preferred).
