Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Network Monitor to join our global operations team. This is a critical role responsible for the continuous observation and analysis of Netflix’s vast network infrastructure during night shifts. You will play a key part in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our streaming services, directly impacting the experience of millions of users worldwide. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor network devices, servers, and applications using various monitoring tools.
- Identify, diagnose, and escalate network issues and anomalies in real-time.
- Perform initial troubleshooting steps to determine the root cause of network problems.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and support teams to resolve complex incidents efficiently.
- Document all incidents, resolutions, and ongoing issues accurately and thoroughly.
- Provide regular status updates and reports on network health and performance.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical alerts outside of standard hours.
- Maintain a strong understanding of network topology and critical infrastructure components.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in network operations, monitoring, or a related IT role.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, Datadog).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.
- Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) from various vendors.
- Ability to interpret network diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective incident reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team during night shifts.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Previous experience in a NOC (Network Operations Center) environment.
