Job Description
Are you an exceptional listener with a keen eye for detail and excellent grammar? Rev.com is seeking highly motivated 1099 Transcription Contractors to join our remote team. This is a unique opportunity to work flexibly, setting your own hours and choosing projects that fit your schedule. As a transcription contractor, you will convert audio and video recordings into accurate written text, playing a crucial role in making content accessible and searchable for a wide range of clients. This position offers complete autonomy and is ideal for those seeking supplementary income, students, stay-at-home parents, or anyone looking for a flexible work-from-home opportunity. Work from anywhere within the Long Beach, CA area or beyond, as this is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio and video files into written text.
- Ensure high levels of grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy.
- Meet specified turnaround times and client guidelines for each project.
- Proofread and edit your own transcripts to ensure quality and completeness.
- Manage your workload and choose projects based on availability and skill set.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information and project content.
Required Skills
- Excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Proficiency in typing with a high WPM (words per minute) rate.
- Ability to accurately discern speech from audio, even with background noise or multiple speakers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow specific instructions.
- Reliable internet connection and a computer with a functional web browser and word processing software.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in transcription, captioning, or related linguistic services.
- Familiarity with various audio accents and dialects.
- Experience with transcription software or online platforms.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in English, Communications, or a related field.
