Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic 14-year-old looking for an impactful summer experience? The YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City invites you to join our team as a Camp Counselor Trainee for our exciting summer programs! This seasonal, on-site position in Bricktown offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop leadership skills, and make a positive difference in the lives of younger campers. As a trainee, you will work closely with experienced counselors, learning the ropes of camp operations, activity leadership, and youth supervision. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior camp counselors in supervising groups of children during daily activities, games, and crafts.
  • Participate actively in all staff training sessions and team-building exercises.
  • Help set up and break down activity areas and ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Engage positively with campers, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Learn and adhere to all camp safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Support counselors in conflict resolution and promoting positive camper interactions.

  • Must be 14 years old at the start of employment.
