Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Laboratory Director to lead our clinical laboratory operations in New Port Richey. The Laboratory Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency in clinical testing. This pivotal role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of healthcare regulations, advanced laboratory techniques, and a commitment to patient safety and service excellence. The successful candidate will drive innovation, optimize workflows, and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all clinical laboratory services.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CLIA, CAP, and JCAHO standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Manage laboratory budget, resource allocation, and purchasing of equipment and supplies.
- Oversee personnel management, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and staff development.
- Implement new tests, technologies, and methodologies to enhance laboratory capabilities.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
- Maintain accreditation and prepare for all regulatory inspections.
- Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork within the laboratory.
Required Skills
- Doctorate (Ph.D., M.D., or D.O.) in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
- ASCP certification (e.g., MLS(ASCP)CM, MB(ASCP)CM, SM(ASCP)CM) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership and management experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software.
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in Clinical Pathology or Medical Microbiology.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in implementing new laboratory technologies and expanding service lines.
