Job Description
As an Auto Transport Specialist – Multi-Car Carrier at United Road Services, you will be a vital part of our mission to deliver vehicles safely and efficiently across various destinations. This role requires an experienced and highly skilled professional capable of operating multi-car carriers, ensuring meticulous loading, secure transit, and punctual delivery of various vehicle types. You will navigate diverse routes, adhere to strict safety regulations, and represent our company with professionalism. This is an on-site position based out of our Murray, UT depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate multi-car carrier vehicles (up to 9-10 car capacity) for the safe and efficient transport of new and used vehicles.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
- Secure vehicles properly using industry-standard tie-down procedures to prevent damage during transit.
- Manage loading and unloading processes, often requiring precise maneuvering and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete necessary paperwork for shipments.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery schedules and any unexpected delays or issues.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal transportation laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct minor roadside adjustments or repairs as needed and report major mechanical issues promptly.
- Represent United Road Services professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience operating multi-car carrier auto transport equipment
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Demonstrated ability to safely load, secure, and unload multiple vehicles
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and vehicle safety standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to perform duties, including climbing, bending, and lifting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transporting luxury, classic, or specialty vehicles
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software
- ASE certification or other automotive mechanical experience
- Proven track record of safe driving and on-time deliveries
