Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Banquet Porters to join our casual hire team for large-scale events at the Hilton Garden Inn Sunderland. As a Banquet Porter, you will be crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of our events, working behind the scenes to set up, maintain, and break down event spaces. This role requires physical stamina, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Set up tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and audio-visual equipment according to event specifications and diagrams.
- Prepare and move banquet furniture, linens, and place settings with care.
- Assist with the service of food and beverages as needed during events, working closely with the catering and waiting staff.
- Ensure all event spaces are clean, organized, and presentable before, during, and after events.
- Break down event setups efficiently and carefully, storing equipment appropriately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all banquet equipment and storage areas.
- Respond promptly and courteously to requests from event managers and other team members.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation standards.
- Support other hotel departments as required during busy periods.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a banquet, hospitality, or event setting.
- Familiarity with various event setup styles and equipment.
