Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Beauty Editor Assistant to join our vibrant Digital Content & Beauty team in Louisville, KY. This entry-level to junior role is perfect for an aspiring writer and editor with a passion for beauty, skincare, makeup, and digital media. You will support our Beauty Editors in creating and managing captivating content for Macy’s online platforms, contributing to everything from product reviews and trend pieces to promotional materials and social media content. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced retail media environment and contribute to a leading brand’s digital presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Beauty Editors with comprehensive research, meticulous fact-checking, and efficient gathering of assets for digital content initiatives.
- Draft, meticulously edit, and rigorously proofread beauty-focused articles, compelling product descriptions, engaging social media posts, and informative newsletters.
- Coordinate seamlessly with product teams, marketing departments, and external beauty brands to facilitate content collaboration and asset acquisition.
- Proactively manage content calendars, ensuring the timely delivery of all assigned tasks and meeting crucial deadlines.
- Conduct thorough competitive analysis and insightful research on emerging beauty trends, innovative ingredients, and pertinent industry news.
- Provide invaluable support to the editorial team by actively participating in brainstorming sessions for new content ideas and strategic approaches.
- Organize and meticulously maintain digital asset libraries, encompassing images and video content.
- Engage actively in content strategy meetings and contribute valuable creative input to drive innovation.
Required Skills
- Exceptional proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading, specifically in English (US English).
- A strong, demonstrable passion for and comprehensive knowledge of the beauty industry, including skincare, makeup, haircare, and fragrance.
- Proficiency in utilizing content management systems (CMS) and various digital publishing tools.
- Outstanding organizational skills combined with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to thrive and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven professional environment.
- A foundational understanding of SEO principles as they apply to content creation.
- A Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship or entry-level experience in digital media, publishing, or beauty content creation (e.g., contributions to a college newspaper, personal blog, or social media management).
- Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva or basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for enhancing content visuals.
- Experience with major social media platforms and content scheduling tools.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing writing samples, particularly within the beauty or lifestyle niche.
